I am a chemist who loves history and finds tea at the intersection of both. Student of Tea is a space that treats tea not just as a drink, but as a daily practice. A simple way to slow down, pay attention, and reconnect through a cup of tea.
Here I research, share, and continue learning about tea by exploring its genetic roots, cultural journeys, and the chemistry that shapes its taste and meaning. Scholarship informs the work, but practice is always the starting point.
My focus is on Chinese tea practices as the historical foundation from which many global tea traditions later developed.
Student of Tea is written for anyone curious about moving beyond tea bags and into loose leaf, ritual, and everyday tea practice. No prior knowledge is required.
All essays and translations are kept freely accessible. If you find value in this work and would like to support the time spent researching, translating, and maintaining the site, you are warmly invited to contribute through “Support me with a cup of tea.” Reader support sustains careful scholarship and keeps this project open to all.
Feel free to email me with your questions, topics, suggestions, or collaboration inquiries.
